Day 1 NICE



Arrival, installation at the hotel on the English promenade in the afternoon. Visit Phoenix Park, an incredible pyramid-shaped greenhouse called the « Green Diamond ». It is one of the tallest greenhouses in Europe: over 7000 m2 and 25 metres high, 6 different tropical and subtropical climates have been recreated.

Dinner in a typical restaurant in the old town of Nice near the flower market of Cours Saleya.

You start your tour with a visit to Marc Chagall’s museum in Nice, the permanent collection is the largest public collection of Marc Chagall’s works. It is organized on Old Testament themes, with more than 400 paintings, gouaches, drawings, washes and pastels on display. The museum presents twelve large-format paintings illustrating the first two books of the Old Testament, Genesis and the Exodus and five compositions on the theme of the Song of Songs, another book of the Old Testament.

November to April from 10 am to 5 pm / May to October from 10 am to 6 pm

Then you will visit the old city of Nice with local guide ,commented visit of the old city and its heritage.

In the afternoon visit of the Fine Arts Museum which includes collections of regional artists such as Keyser ,Flemish, Italian paintings ,Orientalist paintings and paintings of 19th century artists and the Raoul Dufy collection… Very beautiful sculptures are also on display (J.B Carpeaux, Auguste Rodin, Michel de Tarnowsky)

Then visit the Museum of Contemporary Modern Art MACMAC, Nearly 1300 works covering the 20th and 21st centuries through 345 artists testify to the important role played by Nice in the development of innovative movements from the 60s and 70s to today: the New Realists – César, Arman, Niki de Saint-Phalle, Pop’Art – Andy Warhol… Lunch at the seaside.

Day 3 NICE – VENCE – ST PAUL DE VENCE – BIOT : Matisse day, Leger, Maeght foundation

After a day’s visit to the Museums, a total change of scenery with visits to the cultural sites of Vence and St Paul de Vence, which bear witness to an artistic tradition more than a century old. The charming perched villages of the Route des Peintres.

You will stroll through the alleys of these charming villages, visit the Chapel of the Rosary, a masterpiece designed by Henri Matisse remains a sacred art monument unique in the world. From 1948 to 1951, Matisse drew up the plans of the building and all the details of its decoration: stained glass windows, ceramics, stalls, stalls, holy water font, objects of worship, priestly ornaments… For the first time, a painter creates a monument in its entirety, from architecture to furniture and stained glass. Then visit the Maeght Foundation which is a unique example of a private foundation in Europe with the very beautiful collections of Picasso, Miro, Hepworth…

A true museum in nature, the Maeght Foundation is an exceptional place that has one of the most important collections in Europe of paintings, sculptures, drawings and graphic works of modern art of the 20th century (Bonnard, Braque, Calder, Chagall, Chillida, Giacometti, Léger, Miró, Ubac) but also of contemporary artists (Adami, Calzolari, Caro, Del Re, Dietman, Kelly, Mitchell, Monory, Oh Sufan, Takis, Tàpies….
You will then stroll through the charming alleys, in the small squares with their ancient fountains, porches and delicately decorated windows,
Continuation to BIOT, visit of the Fernand Leger Museum with its unique collection of paintings, ceramics and drawings, the collection allows everyone to discover this major avant-garde artist, from his cubist research to the great colourful compositions of the 1950s (opening hours: from November to April from 10 am to 5 pm from May to October from 10 am to 6 pm).

Lunch at the famous restaurant « La Colombe d’Or », a mythical restaurant for artists, visit the restaurant’s private collection collected over the years from artists who have lived in the region.

Day 4 NICE – ANTIBES – JUAN LES PINS -VALLAURIS – Matisse Picasso day

In the morning, visit the Matisse Museum, which has been housed in the rooms of the Villa des Arènes in Nice since 1963, the museum’s permanent collection consists of a presentation of Matisse’s artistic evolution, his advances, his research into colour, graphics, the first paintings of 1890 and the gouaches cut at the end of his life (Open every day from 10am to 6pm except on Tuesdays and certain public holidays). The afternoon is devoted to Picasso’s works

Located in the Château Grimaldi in Antibes, the Picasso Museum is located where Picasso produces numerous works, drawings and paintings. Following his stay in 1946, Pablo Picasso left 23 paintings and 44 drawings in the city of Antibes. Among the most famous paintings: La Joie de vivre, Satyr, fauna and centaur with trident, Le Gobeur d’urchins, La Femme aux urchins, Nature morte à la chouette et aux trois urchins, La Chèvre… The works of Nicolas de Staël are also presented in the museum and testify to the painter’s stay in Antibes (Open every day except Mondays 16 September – 14 June: 10 am – 12 pm / 2 pm – 6 pm – 15 June – 15 September: 10 am – 6 pm)

Continuation to Vallauris visit of the Picasso Museum, the Picasso National Museum the War and Peace located in the former Romanesque chapel (12th century) of the priory where Picasso’s work was realized the War and Peace , realized in 1952.

As you pass through the city of Vallauris, you will admire the sculpture >l’homme au mouton installed in the heart of the city of Vallauris, on Place Paul Isnard, since 1950, created in 1943 by Picasso,

Day 5 NICE – CAGNES SUR MER – Visit of Auguste Renoir’s house

In the morning, visit the superb villa Ephrussi and its gardens suspended on the sea, Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, also called villa Île-de-France, is one of the most beautiful Renaissance style palaces on the Côte d’Azur built on a summit of the Cap Ferratl peninsula, one of the most beautiful view points on the French Riviera.

In the afternoon visit the house and painting studio of Auguste Renoir in Cagnes sur Mer The Renoir Museum is located in the heart of a magnificent estate planted with olive trees and citrus fruits, from where you can discover a superb panorama that extends as far as Cap d’Antibes.
With its collections, its 14 original paintings, its sculptures, its furniture and its workshop… it is the moving testimony of the creative and familiar universe of the Impressionist Master who spent the last 12 years of his life in Cagnes-sur-Mer.
